“I’m influenced by everything from rock and pop to world music, Americana, and contemporary jazz,” he said. “I play many different styles of music depending on the group or context.”
At Sap House, he said he will focus on original instrumental music for solo guitar and also “take folks on a journey across many genres and styles.” “My song choices will mostly come from my duo’s repertoire arranged for solo guitar, new and unreleased compositions, and possibly a well-known piece or two with a twist,” he added.
Noting he is inspired by connection, exploration, and engaging with the “unknown” of live performance, Myrick expressed a special appreciation for the charm of intimate settings like Sap House. He also cited the format of Sap House Dinner & Show Concerts, which begin with a ‘mead & mingle,’ as particularly appealing.
“By interacting with folks in a meet and greet style and breaking bread together, or sharing mead, we are already setting the stage for myself and the listeners to be more present and engaged,” he said.
Myrick said the ability to share stories from the stage is especially important for an instrumental concert. “Without words to define or suggest meaning, I love to paint a picture, or set a mood before a song,” he explained. “I can then watch as every individual turns that into a ‘choose your own adventure’ in their own mind while the song is playing out.”
In addition to performing, Myrick serves as promoter of the show, as he is the founder of NH Music Collective, which presents the Dinner & Concert Show series. “Our goal is to create great experiences, for the venue, the artist, and the listener,” he said. “Sap House Meadery has shared that vision from day one.”
This vision includes the menu, as each dinner is conceptually paired with the artist’s music and place of origin. “The quality of the culinary and musical arts presented is notably high,” said Myrick. “These evenings have become an event series that NH Music Collective frequently shares as a stellar example of what we can achieve here locally.”
